American Junior Baseball Program Overview
Thank you for visiting the American Junior Baseball (AJB) website. AJB has provided organized affordable baseball to Bloomington-Normal for over 50 years. AJB provides both recreational (In-Town) and competitive (Travel) teams for players ages 5 through 18 and typically accommodates 1,000 players each season. Registration fees for AJB players, excluding travel teams, range from $60.00 up to $125.00 based on the league. Registration fees provide uniforms, equipment, program operations and secondary insurance for registered players in the organization.
The In-Town program provides baseball for the largest number of players and includes six leagues starting with T-Ball/Ages 5-6, Rookie League/Ages 7-8, American League/Ages 9-10, National League/Ages 11-12, Minor League/Ages 13-14, and Major League/Ages 15-18. The season will typically begin in late May and concludes in mid to late July. Teams will average 2-3 games per week including a season end tournament for leagues 3 & 4. Weekday games begin at 5:30 or 7:45 pm, and Saturday games vary from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. AJB does not schedule Sunday games. The AJB philosophy promotes the fundamentals of baseball, equitable playing time, sportsmanship and an enjoyable atmosphere for players, coaches and parents.
The travel team division of AJB is called the Bloomington/Normal Renegades. The Renegade teams provide baseball for players age 9-14 and typically field 7-9 teams per year. These programs play competitive travel schedules and will play between 35-55 games per season including tournaments. Renegade players are selected through an open try out process in advance of the regular season.
AJB is a not-for-profit organization that relies on the generosity and cooperation of our local governments and school districts. With their cooperation the AJB has access to 30 baseball fields throughout the community. Our program fields about 75 teams each year and is fortunate to secure team sponsorships from local business owners. Please visit our sponsor page by using the tab on the left column. Thanks for visiting the website and please contact our office for more information at (309) 829-2129, or by e-mail at ajb.baseball@verizon.net..
